About Jack Brugger

README

I’m a founder and design engineer. I design intelligent systems that turn complex products into simple, trustworthy workflows.

That means the design-to-code layer: research and system building with agents.

I have a decade of product design experience across fintech, marketplaces and enterprise software — in-house, freelance and agency.

American and Swiss, based in Amsterdam. Lifelong creative in music, which is where the working philosophy comes from — disciplined, expressive, collaborative.

METHOD

The same loop at whatever scale the engagement allows. It repeats per phase — what phase one teaches reframes the problem for phase two.

  1. Frame the bet

Understand the business and its goals, then turn them into a small number of explicit bets with success metrics attached. Everything downstream is judged against those.

  2. Research in depth

Interviews, funnel analytics, behavioural mapping. Enough evidence that the problem is described the same way by me, the PM and the people using it.

  3. Build a system that ships

Robust visual systems that survive contact with engineering and stay maintainable after I leave — not screens that look right in a deck.

  4. Close the loop with agents

Tight feedback loops between design, code and AI: autonomous design-to-code pipelines tuned on the organisation's own context and data, gated on evidence rather than vibes.

OFF HOURS

I run a music label called Beats for Sale, and spend most of what’s left on 3D and sound experiments.

It isn’t separate from the work. Releasing records taught me to finish things, to take a deadline from someone else’s calendar seriously, and that taste is a practice rather than an opinion — which is most of what design direction turns out to be.
